Guilty!!! I fail from time to time in my clean eating goals. Sometimes they seem like more of an adventure than a goal. But we discovered 5 Tips that can make your life easier, help you stick to your clean eating routine, and make 2021 your healthiest year yet.
KEY POINTS
· Veg Out
· Get Some Zzzzzzzsss....
· You are sweet enough
Clean Eating Tip #1 - Eat More Vegetables
Vegetables are a nutrition powerhouse packed with micronutrients and fiber to keep you full. One of the easiest ways to clean up your diet is to eat more vegetables at every meal; try to fill your plate with as many different kinds of veggies as you can. Top it off with protein and healthy fats and you’re good to go!
Clean Eating Tip #2 - Get Adequate Rest
Some people think it’s silly to talk about sleep when we’re talking about nutrition, but being chronically under-rested can wreak havoc on your diet by making your body crave foods that aren’t nutritious and altering your ability to regulate your appetite. Aim for a good night’s sleep as often as you can, and address any stress you may be experiencing.

Clean Eating Tip #3 - Limit Your Sugar Intake
Sugar is the enemy of a healthy diet and can play a role in many long-term chronic health conditions. We know, it tastes so good, but that’s exactly why it can be so hard to eliminate. Did you know 80% of grocery shelve items now have added sugar? Work on reducing sugar in your diet a little at a time instead of going cold turkey. Having one less soda, skipping dessert, and opting for black coffee will go a long way towards helping you create sustainable, healthy eating habits without feeling deprived.
Clean Eating Tip #4 - Stay Hydrated
Drinking enough water throughout the day helps your body stay alert, eliminate toxins, and be ready for exercise. As a bonus, it can also help you to regulate your appetite. Try swapping juice, soda, or sugary energy drinks with water throughout the day to eliminate unnecessary calories and sugar. As much as a healthy diet is about what you eat, it’s also about what you drink!
Clean Eating Tip #5 - Have a Plan
You can have the best intentions to eat clean, but poor choices happen more often when you’re hungry or on the go and don’t have any healthy options. Set yourself up for success by always having a plan: bring healthy snacks with you whenever you’re out of the house, have a few prepared meals in the fridge or freezer for nights you’re too tired to cook, and research restaurant menus before going out to eat so you know what you will order before you get there. Don't forget that a plan doesn't have to be complex.... Keep it simple! Having a plan will increase the likelihood that you are able to stick to your goals.
